How It Works
  • Senescent Cells: As cells age or suffer damage, they stop dividing but do not die. Instead, they linger and secrete inflammatory markers that degrade surrounding tissue and drive age-related decline. 
  • The FOXO4/p53 Block: In these cells, the FOXO4 protein binds to p53 and traps it in the nucleus, essentially protecting the “zombie” cell from dying. 
  • The Role of DRI: FOXO4-DRI is a D-retro-inverso peptide (a mirrored, reverse-sequence design) used to block this FOXO4/p53 binding. This forces p53 out of the nucleus and directly into the mitochondria, inducing apoptosis.
